Photoshop and the best web designers lose to God in His creativity. There’re plenty of places that look surreal, yet they are on our planet.
1. Ancient City of Petra (present-day Jordan)
Jordan has a long history and a lot of historical sites. One of such special locations is the ancient city of Petra. This city is famous for its architecture. The building we cannot avoid mentioning is Al Khazneh. It is now a mausoleum. The structure is carved into the sandstone cliffs and represents Greek-styled columns. You have seen the place in many movies, such as the Last Crusade and Indiana Jones.
2. Door to Hell (Derweze, Turkmenistan)
In the 1970s a natural gas reserve was discovered by the Russians. The drilling camp formed a cave-in after which a crater appeared in the earth. The hole was around 200 feet wide and released harmful gases. In order to make the reserve less dangerous, engineers emptied the crated by burning off the remaining gas. Once the fire was lit, it hasn’t stopped for more than forty years!
