3. Gathered seams
Gathered seams make clothing suitable to a greater number of people. They fit everyone and cause no fit issues. On the contrary, flat and smooth seams are far more difficult to make. Besides, perfectly tailored clothing fits fewer customers. Due to their high quality such clothing costs a lot. Next time you go shopping for garments, try and find something with clean lines. Sharply tailored clothes can be found in an inexpensive store as well. Opt for pleats and put aside gathered seams.
4. Imperfect fit
Clothes that perfectly fit will always look great. Even if you spend lots of money on expensive clothes that do not fit you well enough, they will look cheap. Luckily, there is a way out – purchase cheap clothes that fit. Make sure that a pant leg is not too loose or long. Find a blouse, try it on and see if a shoulder is not too wide or narrow. If a sleeve is too wide, it will make even the prettiest jacket look cheap on you. If the garment does not fit you, yet you know you need it, then you can always take it to a tailor. Clothes can be transformed to fit you. Altering hems are not expensive at all. Complex alterations are expensive. So, if you know that the clothes will need more serious tailoring, then leave them and find something else.
