This breed may remind you of a miniature collie. The Shetland sheepdog was bred as a local alternative of the Icelandic sheepdog. The latter is commonly found in the Shetland Islands. These small spitz shepherds were later raised to give collies special qualities and features. The Shetland sheepdog is very energetic.
