3. Mandoline
Manufacturers will make you believe that you need their device if you want to slice your fruits and vegetables. Mandolines cost pretty big money. But are they as useful as some might think? Not only are mandolins expensive, they are dangerous as well. Use a regular vegetable peeler instead! It will take you slightly more time to do the job, but you will have perfectly shaped slices of food. Need more comfort? Pick a peeler with a handle. Be careful while slicing your veggies!
4. Panini Press
You will never see those easily recognizable frill lines if you use a sauté pan instead of a panini press. However, your favorite gooey and toasty sandwiches are guaranteed anyways. You will save more than 40 bucks if you do not buy a press – another good point, right? If you liked the idea, use a clean copper sauté pan. Place your Panini inside and put a heavy cast skillet on top to provide pressure. Once the food is toasted, flip it. Instead of the skillet you can try and use sauté pan. Use a few cans of vegetables or soup to weigh the thing down. Or, if need be, wrap a brick in aluminum foil and place it on top.
