Before purchasing a diamond, read the essential rules below:

1.  Diamond color
No color good color! Colorless diamonds are valued most. Some diamonds have impurities that make them a bit yellowish. Diamonds are sorted by colors from D to Z. The most colorless are D group diamonds while Z means that the stone is light yellow.

The perfect diamond is transparent and clear. It is extremely difficult to find a diamond that would have no marks or spots. You might need special equipment to see them, yet every tiniest flaw counts. Transparency of the gem is graded. IF stands for internally flawless. Fl means flawless, SI1 and SI2 mean that the gem is slightly imperfect, VVS 1 or 2 indicate very slight imperfections while I1, 2 and 3 describe an imperfect diamond.
