1. Copacabana

Take a train to Corcovado, then get off it at a midpoint and walk your way through the forest. Tijuca Forest takes up more than 3.000 hectares and is reported to be one of the largest forests on the planet. It was planted almost 200 years ago where there once were coffee plantations. The forest was then needed to protect and preserve the springs that supplied the city’s water. The forest’s fauna is very rich and interesting. So is its flora. You can spot dozens species while exploring the roads and trails.
