3. Refined Sugars
There is nothing as harmful as refined sugars that we eat every day. Candies, cookies and cakes spike insulin levels. Besides increasing the risk of diabetes, refined sugars are the perfect food for cancer cells. This fact has been known for quite some time now. It was first discovered in 1931 by Otto Warburg, the German scientist and Nobel laureate in medicine. According to Warburg, cancer cells use sugars, their favorite being high-fructose corn syrup. HFCS is known to be metabolized by cancer cells far more readily.
4. Artificial Sweeteners
As we all know, 1 gram of carbohydrates contains 4 calories. In order to lose weight, people reduce the amount of calories they consume. First what they do is they replace natural sugar with artificial sweeteners believing that they will lose weight faster. Sweeteners are added to coffee and tea, they are also used to make candies, yogurts and chewing gum. There are plenty of sodas that contain 0 carbs and 0 calories! The worst thing about artificial sweeteners is that they do not help to control blood sugar level and do not prevent diabetes. On the contrary, they ruin your health and worsen gastro paresis, cataracts and other conditions.
