You Don’t Have To Work For Free

Sometimes people that work in creative field are asked to do for free what they usually do for money. Is it fair? Absolutely not! But that’s not surprising, because today all sorts of freelance workers are ready to wait for another employer who will promise them well-paid job.

2. You do work for free because you know that no one except you could do it right.
This type of free work deserves to be called “the worst free-work-type”. One friend of mine knows Spanish well. So many people often ask him to do Spanish translations for free. Well, that’s not very hard for him but it takes time and it’s not very interesting and funny. Anyway, there is one serious problem. If someone needs a translator that means that he doesn’t speak Spanish. So this person can’t judge the quality of any Spanish translation she gets. Some of them could make Spanish speakers really mad (and my friend is among them). We can see lousy translations everywhere on the Internet. So whenever he sees some badly translated Spanish text he starts to correct mistakes in it. So he does free work that he would rather not to do. It takes long time to correct other peoples’ mistakes and of course he does it for free. Is this worth the effort it would take to do it? Absolutely, not!

If you decided to do some work for free remember that majority of people don’t appreciate your action. Probably they take your free work for granted. If you want to become well-respected person your work always must be paid. No matter in what field you prefer to work now, ability not to do work for free helps you to build successful career in future
